Some things don’t need to be big to be powerful.
Some things whisper instead of shout—but somehow leave the deepest impact.

That’s how I feel about moss balls.
If you’ve seen them in my booth—floating gently in little jars with gemstones tucked beside them—you’ve probably felt it too. There’s something about them that just draws you in. A softness. A calm. A kind of quiet magic that’s hard to explain… but so easy to feel.
Wait… what even is a moss ball?
Marimo moss balls aren’t actually moss at all—they’re a rare form of algae that slowly forms into perfect green spheres. In the wild, they gently roll along the bottom of lakes in Japan, Iceland, and a few other places, shaped by soft currents and filtered light.
They’re not flashy. They’re not fast.
But they are incredibly special.
In Japanese culture, marimo are considered symbols of love, luck, and long life. Some families even pass them down through generations. With the right care, they can live over 100 years.
Yes, really.
One hundred years.
That means the little green orb you take home today could still be around long after TikTok trends come and go.
It’s the ultimate slow plant.
Why Mine Are Different
These jars aren’t just cute—there’s a reason they last. The ones you purchased were filled with water straight from my planted tank at home. It’s not just for fun (okay, maybe a little)—that water is full of beneficial bacteria that naturally support the moss ball’s health. It’s balanced, alive, and comes from a living ecosystem with plants and snails doing their thing. You can absolutely refill it with filtered or dechlorinated water at home… I’m just extra and like giving them the best start possible.

And the gemstones? They’re not just there to look pretty. I choose each one with intention. Every stone brings a certain energy—calm, clarity, love, grounding. I don’t get too “woo” about it, but I do believe we’re drawn to what we need. So if one catches your eye… maybe it’s speaking to something in you.
These jars are simple—but they’re made with love.
And I hope you can feel that when you hold one yourself.
What the Gemstones Represent
Each gemstone in your jar carries its own kind of quiet energy. I don’t pick them at random—every one is chosen with care:
- Amethyst – calm, clarity, and spiritual grounding
- Rose Quartz – love, compassion, and gentle heart healing
- Obsidian – protection, truth, and emotional boundaries
- Jade – abundance, luck, and overall wellbeing
- Tiger’s Eye – confidence, courage, and inner strength
- White Quartz – cleansing, clarity, and fresh energy
- Blue Quartz – calm communication and emotional balance
- Mixed Quartz – a little bit of everything—harmony, balance, and softness
If one stone stood out to you more than the others, trust that. I’ve always believed we’re drawn to what we need—even if we don’t know why yet.
How to Care for Your Moss Ball
(If you scanned QR code on the jar, welcome! This part is just for you 💚)
These tiny green companions are low-maintenance but full of heart. Here’s everything you need to know to keep yours happy and thriving:
☀️ Light:
Place in bright, indirect light. No harsh sun—they’re not sunbathers!
💧 Water:

Change the water every 2–3 weeks using dechlorinated or filtered water. (Tap water is okay if left out for 24 hours to off-gas the chlorine.)
🌀 Shape:
Roll gently between your palms every so often to help keep that perfect round shape.
🌡️ Temp:
Keep in a cool spot—no heating vents, radiators, or hot windowsills.
🧊 Bonus Tip:
You can refrigerate them briefly ( few hours) in hot summer months if needed, especially if you don’t have air conditioning. They come from cool lakes and love a little chill.
That’s it. No pruning, no drama. Just peace in a jar.
