Escape to my urban greenhouse oasis, always think outside the box

Welcome to my backyard oasis! As you step through the garden , you are transported into a peaceful retreat filled with greenery and the soothing sound of water. The centerpiece of this retreat is my greenhouse, complete with a 110-gallon pond, koi fish, a farmhouse table, and a variety of herbs and honeysuckle plants.

The idea for my backyard greenhouse came to me in 2018 when I was looking for ways to bring more nature into my daily life. I have always loved gardening and the idea of having my own little ecosystem right in my backyard was too tempting to resist. After much research and planning, My amazing hubby finally built my dream greenhouse and it has been a source of joy and relaxation ever since. I have gone through many seasons with it since.

The greenhouse is a 10×12 foot structure, nestled in the corner of my backyard. It is designed to capture the perfect amount of sunlight and provide a warm, humid environment for my plants to thrive. The pond, filled with 110 gallons of water, is the heart of the greenhouse. It not only adds a stunning visual element, but also helps to regulate the temperature and humidity levels inside the greenhouse.

As you walk around the pond, you can spot my pride and joy – a school of beautiful koi fish. Their vibrant colors and graceful movements are a sight to behold. These fish not only add to the aesthetic appeal of the greenhouse but also serve a practical purpose. Koi fish are known for their ability to keep the pond clean by eating algae and other debris, keeping the water clear and healthy for both the fish and plants.

The farmhouse table, placed in a cozy corner of the greenhouse, is where I spend most of my time. It is the perfect spot to relax, read a book, or simply enjoy the view of the pond and surrounding greenery. The table is also where I do most of my gardening tasks – potting, pruning, and harvesting. It is made of reclaimed wood, adding to the rustic charm of the greenhouse.

One of the main reasons I wanted a greenhouse was to grow my own herbs and honeysuckle plants. I have always been a fan of using fresh herbs in my cooking, and having them readily available in my backyard is a game-changer. From basil and thyme to rosemary and mint, my herb garden is filled with a variety of aromatic and flavorful plants. The honeysuckle plants, with their sweet-scented flowers, not only add to the beauty of the greenhouse but also attract pollinators, making it a haven for bees and butterflies.

Aside from the aesthetic and practical benefits, my backyard greenhouse has also become a source of peace and tranquility for me. I find myself spending hours in there, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The sound of running water, the smell of fresh herbs, and the sight of colorful fish swimming in the pond all contribute to a sense of calmness and serenity.

In conclusion my greenhouse that I have named Clover, has truly become a green haven for me. It not only adds beauty and functionality to my backyard, but also provides a much-needed escape from the chaos of the outside world. I highly recommend building a greenhouse, no matter how big or small, to anyone looking for a way to connect with nature and create their own peaceful retreat.
